Oughterard Angling School & GuideInstructor: Michael Faherty Michael Faherty is an advanced professional game angling instructor in trout fishing, A.p.g.a.i., wich is the highest u.k. instructor qualification. He also holds the salmon and trout national instructors certificate in trout fishing, S.t.a.n.i.c. Mike was born in Oughterard, on the shores of Lough Corrib, possibly the greatest wild brown trout fishery left in Europe producing 100,000 trout in 2000 to the rod and line. Mike has fished all his life catching his first trout on the fly at the age of ten. From there he has developed an interest in competition angling winning the national championships in 1986 and two Connaught regional championships in 1983 &1995. Mike has represented Connaught in six interprovincial finals and Ireland in both home internationals and the highlight for him was fishing for Ireland in the World Championships in Lillehammer, Norway in 1994. Also, in 1994, Mike qualified as a game angling instructor and now he offers fly casting instruction and general boat angling techniques from his home and accommodation center Canrawer House. | ||||

FeesA charge of 25 euro per hour, per angler is charged witha maximum of four anglers. Tuition on LocationMike will travel to any part of Ireland to givetuition to groups, maximum group 12. Guided FishingGuided lake fishing with Mike costs 140 euro per anglerand includes full day 10 p.m. to 6 p.m., the use of all tackle and flies tied by mike and wet gear if necessary. Fishing is on Lough Corrib or Lough Mask. |
